National Cadet Corps
1. N.C.C. the premier youth organisation of India was established in 1948 with the aim to develop qualities of character, courage, comradshIp, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and Ideal of selfless services among the youth to make them useful citizen. It also aims at creating human resources of organised trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the armed forces. In our College NCC was opened in 1965
2. The College has an N.C.C. sub-unit (Army Wing) with authorised strength of 70 cadets and one officer. Medically fit bonafide students of the College who satisfy required standard of physical fitness can be enrolled in N.C.C. through a process of selection. Each year 11% of the stregth is reserved for Women Cadets.
3.(a) Selection for enrolment is normally conducted in the last week of August.
(b) Extension of service to 2nd Yr. & 3rd Yr N.C.C. is completed by first week of August.
4. Training: Prescribed syllabus for every year is covered in 120 periods divided into 20 or 40 parades. Parades are conducted on Sundays or some other day / days as fixed by the N.C.C. Battalion.
Besides training is also imparted to the cadetes at various camps like Annual Training Camp, Army Attachment Camp, Trekking Camp, Republic Day Camp, Basic Leadership Camp and National Integration Camp etc.
5. Cadets found to be irregular or insincere or indisciplined are dismissed from N.C.C.
Dr. Maj. D.D. Khuntia, Sr. Reader in History is the Commander of the N.C.C. Platoon of the College.
